Nusteel Structures Limited - A History

Currently one of the leading suppliers of steel footbridges, bridges, gantries and other infrastructure systems Nusteel has come a long way since its formation in 1954. 
 
Originally know as South Coast Welders, the family run company operated from a local Blacksmith Shop.  At first a general welding and repair service was provided to local farmers, quarries and hauliers.  These services were eventually expanded to include a range of gates and agricultural equipment produced for the South of England area.
 
With expansion; a move to larger premises led to the fabrication of heavier structures, including modular building systems and, in 1967, our first Footbridge.  This simple Warren Truss with associated approach ramps was installed for Haringey Borough Council in North London.  Our first Highway Agency gantry was manufactured in 1973.
 
The present site, in Lympne near Folkestone, Kent, was procured in 1968 and has been developed to provide a “one stop shop” facility.  Purpose built fabrication and finishing shops are located on a large site, affording ample stock yard and finished product storage facilities.
 
Investment in surface treatment processes, including shot-blasting, metal spraying and multi-coat paint systems, provide high quality products.  Our tailor made transport equipment enables our installation teams to efficiently deliver and erect long span structures all over the UK and Ireland.
 
The proactive training of personnel and adoption of Quality Assurance Schemes to BS ISO 9001:2000 has helped Nusteel maintain its position as a key supplier of Highways Agency and Network Rail structures.
 
Having gained extensive experience in the steel fabrication industry, we now produce a variety of structures from a small 3 metre access ramp to 100 metre cable stay bridges and large sign gantry projects.
