This month, through extensive planning, fabrication, glazing and cladding activities, we have completed the installation of the new footbridge project for Godalming Station. This AFA (Network Rail Access for All) structure combines a pedestrian footbridge with fully operational lifts manufactured in accordance with the DDA requirements.
Nusteel were contracted to supply and install the bridge, complete with all of the glazing, cladding, specialist tiled flooring and carborundum stair tread operations. In order to reduce on-site working as much as possible, most of these activities were carried out at our bridge manufacturing facility and then transported to site in an almost completed condition. This helps to reduce the number of rail possessions, site man hours and level of site risk.
We have recently been awarded the contract for the Ascot station AFA footbridge which is similar in design albeit on a larger scale. We look forward to working on this project and the bridge should be in place by the end of November 2016.
