A24 Broadbridge Heath Foot/Cyclebridge

Description

This large bridge structure was commissioned to provide access across the A24 for several large scale housing developments. A 57 metre ‘Sunburst’ Vierendeel truss main span is completed with 96 metres of Twin Stringer approach ramp and a 13 metre long staircase.

This DDA compliant bridge is painted an interesting vibrant blue which makes for an impressive addition to the road landscape .

Nusteel Structures designed the bridge superstructure with all manufacturing, delivery and installation processes carried out by our skilled directly employed teams.

Total length of 166 metres with a clear NMU width of 4 metres for combined pedestrian and cyclist use.

Materials

The main hollow steel sections are hot rolled to BS EN 10210:2006 S355J2H with the plates and sections to BS EN 10025:2004 S355J2+N. A Highways England Type 2 paint system was used in conjunction with a combined waterproofing and anti-slip decking system.
