Sock Island, an Apprenticeship journey – October 2020

Having completed his Plater/Welder apprenticeship last year, working as a 2-man team, Chris has just finished the fabrication of this long span Vierendeel footbridge. The structure headed straight to our internal blasting and paint shops for the finishing processes to be carried out. An excellent advertisement for hard working apprentices and what they can achieve in a relatively short space of time!

The photographs below show the Sock Island footbridge all painted, decked and ready to go. After blasting, a 4-coat paint system has been applied and the bridge will be delivered to site in Leicestershire on one of our rear-steerable extendable trailers.
